Crazy People

Wow; that lay-over at LAX was an interesting one. Sitting at the bar I started talking with this woman and we chatted for a short while. After I stated how I don’t like baseball because they are over-paid she told me her son plays for the Colorado Rockies… turns out it was at the little league level. Then after we talked a bit more and she told me that we (her and I) had hooked up a few times in London… in this lifetime.

“Check please!”

Eject! Eject!

DC

Despite the number of times I’ve been to DC I’m still humbled by this view.

Baby Bean and Fat Kid

Earlier I promised to show a picture of Baby Bean. I also have a picture of Fat Kid; when I asked her permission to post it she said “Yeah, of course. I’m a hot bitch!”

Below is a picture of Baby Bean on the left and Fat Kid on the right.

Baby Bean – A little hot Beaner we met through another guy that briefly worked at our office. Insulted that I’m calling her a Beaner? That’s how she introduced herself. She is a bad-ass out of San Antonio that is engaged to a Navy dude… both are really nice and smart. She’s quite the character.

Fat Kid was my supervisor while working on campus. She’s a stupid liberal hippy and it was fun to berate her with conservative view points and call her out on her hippiness. She’s not really smart and will one day be running I hospital I hope to never visit.

Below is a picture of Fat Kid sauntering down the street with a Playboy in hand… don’t worry, she didn’t influence me in a bad way at all – despite all her attempts.

The last few weeks...

At this moment I’m sitting in some bar in LAX waiting another seven hours for my flight. Luckily a friend from Alaska is on the same flight so she’ll be joining me once she gets to the airport. It’s been a hectic trip getting here over the past three weeks.

Once finals were over I thought I was on Easy Street. Monday a friend called me and wanted me to join her at a job fair in DC. I didn’t think the prospects were too good for me but I went anyways… turns out it wasn’t too bad. While I was in DC I got a call at 8am that I wasn’t going to be able to graduate because of my damn philosophy class. I immediately sent out a couple of emails to the Prof asking ‘WTF?’ – Politely. Then at 10am I started with the phone calls. By that evening I still hadn’t heard anything from anyone so I made my way back to State College to start chasing people in the morning. The morning relay started with two goals: first goal was to fix the mistake and have my grade fixed… should that one fail the second goal was to raise such a storm that they would just fix my grade to shut me up. Now don’t be mistaken; if I screw up I accept that, if I get a bad grade that I earned I accept that… I didn’t earn a ‘D’ in that class – I earned at least a ‘C’ even though I didn’t know squat about philosophy… I was going to raise hell. Several offices later the prof finally called back and corrected the mistake. I didn’t like how she went about changing it but it was fixed none the less and I was able to graduate.

Then the family came into town along with my friend from DC. Hanging out with them was cool… Mom and Dad didn’t think they could hang with us at the bar after the graduation so they went back to their hotel and my friend and I joined Fat Kid and her parents at the bars. A good night was had by all.

After family and friends were gone I had to clean out my room and pack everything up. I got everything down to one truck load before I headed back to DC for a friends graduation. I had the pleasure of working as her and her family’s shuttle service. I can’t complain though – they fed me really well… really really well.

Back to Pennsylvania where I dropped off my truck and stored a few boxes of my stuff that I don’t want to take to Alaska. I spent a full day hanging out at an airport hoping to do a ride-along with a friend that pilots for a medi-vac service. With my luck though I wasn’t able to fly along. That evening I rented a car and handed over my truck to a friend. I drove back to DC to spend the night on the couch at my ex-girlfriends current boyfriends place. He was nice and even had some BBQ meat that he shared with me when I showed up.

This morning it was a quick jaunt to the airport and my flight across country. And now here I sit in LAX drinking a cold beer waiting for a friend from high school to show up for the same flight back to Alaska. And just as a heads up to anyone that ventures through here in the future – service sucks all over this airport… it takes for ever to get any food or drinks.

Travels

I’ve been traveling a lot these past few days. I went from Pennsylvania to DC to Pennsylvania and now I’m back in DC. This morning I’m on my way to the Airport where I’ll head to LAX and enjoy a 10 hour layover (God help me). Then it’ll be on to Alaska later (much later) tonight.

I’ll arrive in Alaska early in the morning on Friday then that afternoon I’ll be heading up to the cabin on the lake with no TV, no computer, no electricity…. it’ll be nice to sit around the campfire and relax for a while.

Moving around

I’m starting to get a little more use to the title of Alumni; or as RSM pointed out, Alumnus. So between Alumni, Alumnus, or Aluminum I’ll find one that fits eventually…

This past week I cleaned everything out of my room in State College as I reduced my life to what could fit into one truck load. It feels good to get back to just some of the basics. My last night in town I had a nice send off/bar tour with Fat Kid and Baby Bean. Once I find all the cable to my computer I’ll post a photo along with the story of Baby Bean.

Now all my stuff is resting in the living room of a friends place in DC. I’ve been hanging with her and her family since Thursday… she had two graduations. This week I’ll be moving everything up to Harrisburg and storing it in another friend’s basement. Once that is settled I’ll be grabbing two (probably three) suitcases and a rental car and making my way back down towards Dulles Airport for a summer in Anchorage.

Now that I’ve typed it out like that it sounds like I haven’t been doing much these past couple of days – but I assure you, it has been a lot more hectic than that, I’m just not sure with what.

Alumni

I can’t believe the amount of stuff that has happened over the past week. It was suppose to be an easy and stress free week after finals but it was anything but… I’m still not quite sure what the hell is going on.
As I was walking through town today with a friend she suggested I get a sweatshirt with ‘PSU Alumni’ on it… What the hell? I don’t like the title ‘Alumni’. Alumni are old people that return for football games and stuff… I’m too young to be an Alumni.

Been Busy

In short here is the past week:
Slowly cleaning out my stuff so I can leave later this week
Went to a job fair in DC
Found out I wouldn’t graduate while I was in DC
Returned to State College and nearly choked some people out
Fixed it so I would graduate
Family and friends came to town (still here)
Almost rode in a medical helicopter (in the copilot seat, not the back)
Toured town, dinner, graduated, toured bars
Feeling like crap… I’m cursed and haven’t had a good night of sleep in the past couple of weeks
Today I’ll be heading back down to Harrisburg to see some friends

Summed up: I now wear my tassel on the left.

Life in prison

A lot of people seem to be upset that Moussaoui is only getting life in prison and not death. He’s even gloated by saying that America has lost. I think it was the right choice, and here’s why: Ron White said this about Bin Laden but I think it also applies to Moussaoui. He is prepared to die… in fact, he wants to die. If we kill him he’d be considered a martyr. What he isn’t prepared for is licking grape jelly out of T-Dawg’s ass crack.

Too bad they are putting him in the Super-max security where he will be isolated from everyone else for 23 hours a day. He should be out in general population a little more than that – just as long as it’s understood that no one is allowed to shank him, but the beatings can go on and on…

Jobs? Who needs that?

What is all this talk about getting a job? Forget that trash… my first stop in town will be at the unemployment office to get my government cheese.

Final Final

It looks like I’m finished now. As long as I didn’t do worse than I think I did on the Econ test then I’m finished here.

The one bad part about finishing up the finals this early is that you have to wait till all your friends have finished theirs so they can come out and play.

I'm still waiting on the grades for all of my classes; however, I got my paper back for the terrorism class... for being a tough grader I still got a 96/100. As my mother put it, "should I be concerned you know more about terrorism
than capitalism?"

Now comes the family/friends shuffling around graduation.
